also... a remarkable ammount of s classes are being sold at roughly the 220k km mark

i wonder what horribly expensive part is about to fail at that point

jeez, now that is depreciation

not that the people who take delivery when new worry as they’d all be leased.

Funny thing is, I’ve noticed a solid creep in used car prices over the last six months, I’d say as much as 10% for the “normal/nice” coupe/sedans I’ve been looking at (BMW 1 series, Lexus IS, heck even Volvos and Acuras), however continue to fall for domestics (Fusions are basically free now). It’s...odd. And annoying.

(What got me this morning: when I bought my last car in 2010, the mid-00s Tahoes and similar GMTs were going for like $8k. Now they’re twice that, eight years later. Craziness).

2015 is 3 year lease return territory, 2017 could be early registration 2 year lease return territory - supply gluts. 2012s are now going to be a generation behind and still falling fast as they are an old model and not getting younger .

It’d be interesting to see 3 and 5 year residuals on a K9 vs those it claims to compete with.

Are you in the snowbelt? AWD SUVs in Utah just do not depreciate, especially if they have a 3rd row.

FWIW, K9 depr eciates to 60% just sitting on the dealer lot.

Truth be told you could buy a barely used K9 for 50% off.

A deal if you don’t care about having the latest thing, or don’t pretend it is on equal footing with the big boy players.

Sure it is a deal . I agree.

I would totally rock a V6 K900 on my 110 mile daily commute.

Not gonna compare with any of my other cars.

That’s where it would be best, long highway trips where you can slowly use it up.

correct.

After spending 10 -11 hours at work on a frequent basis , nothing beats the comfort of a comfortable heavy duty cruiser.

M y Mercury Grand Marquis fits the bill.

So does the 7 series.

Different ends of spectrum, but both are LWB cruis ers.

a K900 would be the ultimate - LWB, super cheap, and since I am comfortable with the Grand Marquis, i’d definitely be happy wi th the K900. :)

I am surprised K9s haven’t become common in livery service, but maybe there just aren’t enough of them out there to notice. I remember National got a dump of them around launch time, not sure if that was the best cachet-building move.

Once the GM wears out at 400K miles, maybe a K9 can replace it.
